Questions
What if I’m claustrophobic?
Our float cabins are incredibly spacious: 7 feet tall, 8 feet long, and 5 feet wide- plenty of room to stretch, sit. Also, like a room in your own home, you can leave the door to your float cabin open, and you can exit the cabin whenever you wish to- your float suite is completely private. Additionally, we have low lights during your float. You have total control over your comfort AND CAN GET OUT AT ANY MOMENT.
Is floating safe?
Floatation Therapy is widely accepted as generally safe, however anyone with a medical concern should always consult their doctor, not us.
I can’t swim. Will I float?
Yes you will definitely float! Ability to swim is not necessary as absolutely everyone floats without effort. The salt water will support weight of 1000+ pounds.
What if I fall asleep?
Many guests love to fall asleep in the relaxing world of a float tank. In fact, 1 hour of rest in the tank is anecdotally reported as the equivalent of 4 hours of deep restful sleep. Also, because of the high salt content, you will float completely safely whether you’re awake or asleep.
What if I wear contacts?
You can leave them in, or if you need to remove them for your 60-minute float.
What if I have cuts or scrapes?
The salt water can sting wounds, so we provide packets of petroleum jelly in each suite to cover any problem areas.
What about shaving?
Ideally, don’t shave at least 8 hours before your float. The salty water can be irritating or itchy if you do.
What about tattoos and piercings?
If they’re new additions, just make sure they’re fully healed. Otherwise, the saltwater will sting.
What if I’m pregnant?
Floating is safe during pregnancy, but we must insist you consult your healthcare provider first. Most mamas really enjoy a break from carrying baby’s extra weight and an hour of deep relaxation. For more information check out this wonderful video about floating and pregnancy.
Again please consult your physician before you float if you are experiencing or have:
Pregnancy
Kidney disease
I just colored my hair. Is it OK to float?
We recommend waiting at least one week to let the color fully set. We don’t want the salt affecting the color, or your color bleeding into the water. If the color is not rinsing out when you shower, it’s usually fine to float.
Should I eat before I go into the tank?
You can eat. If you eat a very heavy meal you may spend a lot of time listening to your digestive juices. And, on the other hand, if you get very hungry you may spend a lot of time listening to your digestive juices. Moderation works.
What should I wear?
We (highly) recommend- absolutely nothing! While it’s ultimately your choice, bathing suits interfere with your feelings of nothingness and can distract the nervous system.
Rest assured, you’re in your own private suite for the entirety of your experience!
You may not float if you are experiencing or have:
Seizure disorder
First -trimester pregnancy (if you floated and later learned that you were pregnant, not to worry! This once is precautionary and not based on a known risk.)
If you have had a spray tan / used self-tan within 72 hours.
